      <title>HWSC Coaches attend NEU Clinic</title>

      <description>On Monday night more than 15 coaches from Alameda Soccer Club (ASC) and Hollywood Soccer Club (HWSC) attended the first of NEU’s coaching clinics out at the Grant High school soccer field.  NEU Head coach Manolis Tjuanakis provided instruction to the group to prepare for their upcoming teams.&lt;br/&gt;Hollywood head coach Karen Willoughby and has observed the last three clinics in the area and is very pleased with the Hollywood coaches turnout.&lt;br/&gt;On Sunday several coaches from the Hollywood Soccer Club participated in a U10/U12 coaching module hosted by Laurelhurst Soccer Club.  The clinic was held at Hollyrood field in order to get ready for the 2008 fall season.&lt;br/&gt;OYSA presented the clinic.  &lt;br/&gt;The coaches were reminded of the appropriate levels and skills training U10 and U12 players are in and everyone got to enjoy fun games, running, touching the ball and crawling through legs.&lt;br/&gt;The curriculum of the youth module was specific to U10 and U12 ages.  The course focused on preparing the parent coach who has little or no experience in the game of soccer.  These courses teach basic methodology and activities that are developmentally appropriate.&lt;br/&gt;There are no prerequisites to attend, applicants must be at least 16 years of age.  The course modules are 3 hours with one hour of lectured and 2 hours on the field.  The clinics are free of charge.&lt;br/&gt;Candidates also receive a youth module workbook, USYS’s Handbook for Small Sided Games, “The Novice Coach” DVD (Age group specific) and a certificate of completion.
