Training Guidelines and Practice Plans:

Kinder Kick U6:

  1. FUN: Passion for the game.

  2. Technical mastery.
    • Main focus is ball touches and dribbling in a fun environment.
    • One ball. One child. Complete focus on the individual.
    • Develop big muscle groups with balance as a focus.
    • Skipping and running.

  3. Practice Plans: 60 minutes:
    • Welcome 5 minutes.
    • Ball touches 10 minutes.
    • Dribbling 10 minutes.
    • Play small side games. 1v1 1v 2, and 2v2. 15 minutes.
    • Fun games 15 minutes.
    • (Dribbling Games) Keep away, tag, treasure hunt in ones. Maze games. (Fun Games) Asteroid, 3 v 3.

U7/U8

  1. FUN: Passion for the game.

  2. Technical mastery.
    • Main focus is receiving and passing, with ball touches and dribbling included in a fun environment.
    • One ball. One child as much as possible in the first half of practice.
    • Ball Touches: Toe touches on top of ball. Pull backs. Side to side, keeping low. http://www.youtube.com/user/hollywoodsoccerclub

  3. Introduction of teamwork with 2s:
    • Solving problems in groups of two.

  4. Offensive and Defensive concepts introduced:
    • Everyone plays offensive and defense within a position.
    • Emphasize concepts over positioning.

  5. Practice Plans: 60 minutes:
    • Coordination Training 5 minutes.
    • Ball touches 5 minutes.
    • Dribbling 5 minutes.
    • Passing/Receiving 10 minutes.
    • 2 v 2 or 2v2, plus 1, for 10 minutes.
    • Fun games 10 minutes.
    • Closing 5 minutes.

U9/U10

  1. FUN: Passion for the game.

  2. Technical mastery.

  3. Introduction of small group activities:
    • Working in 3s and 4s to solve problems.
    • 3v1.
    • Keep Away with every player touching ball once.
    • 1, 2, 3, 4 passing.

  4. Offensive and Defensive concepts introduced as group play in 3s and 4s.
    • Develop players through multiple positions.
    • Offensive: Attack, expand / possession, creativity
    • Defensive: Pressure, Cover, Balance. Chorography

  5. Practice Plans: 60 minutes:
    • Jog/light stretching 5 minutes.
    • Ball touches 5 minutes.
    • Dribbling 10 minutes.
    • Passing/Receiving 10 minutes.
    • Shooting 5 minutes.
    • 2 v 2 or 2 v3, or 3 v 3 15 minute games.
    • Fun games or 4 v 4 or 6 v 6 for 15 minutes.

  6. Special Notes:
    • Motivation:
    • Ask Children to "Show me"
    • Do drills twice and time them to see if the child can improve.
    • Boys /Girls:
    • Boys want to be top dog.
    • Girls want to be nice and make friends.
    • Teach girls to compete.
    • Teach boys to help make their teammates better.

U11/U12

  1. FUN: Passion for the game.

  2. Technical mastery.
    • Main focus is passing/receiving and shooting techniques, with ball touches and dribbling included. Ball touches against Defense. Heading introduced.
    • Small group activities continue: Working in larger groups to solve problems.
    • Offensive / Defensive team concepts introduced. Develop players through multiple positions.
